Dr. Margaret Thomas, is the Head of Department of Fine Arts at Stella Maris College, Chennai. She holds a doctorate in Selling Cinema: The Impact of Digital Technology on Outdoor Tamil Film Advertising.
Her Areas of interests include Modern Art, Design History, Typography, Graphic Design. Her studies have been published on numerous interesting topics like Roots and Reflections: A Study of Domestic Architecture in Kerala, Nungalai, Art Magazine of State Lalit Kala Akademi, 2000, Tamil Cinema and its Posters, in The Evolving Image: The Notion of Modern and Postmodern Art in Tamil Nadu.
A recipient of UBCHEA fellowship for leadership in 2007 & 2008 she trained at Wellesley College, Massachusetts, USA, and Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines.
She is a freelance graphic designer and has won the prestigious awards in the print advertisement category. She has presented multiple papers at both national and international conferences.
Dr. Margaret Thomas takes sessions at Light & Life Academy on the history of art and the learnings of art in relation to photography and conducts interactive sessions on colour and design.
