Pongal in Grand Style
Continuing a long standing tradition, the students and staff of LLA celebrated the harvest festival – Pongal in grand style. The campus witnessed a spectrum of colours as the students dressed in ethnic wear. Some of the students even sported dhotis for the first time in their lives! True to their colourful personalities, the Akka’s added glamour to the festivities with multi-coloured Rangolis which the students helped to decorate. This was followed by the traditional chanting of “Pongal-o-Pongal” as rice was made to boil over in a clay pot, signifying the beginning of the harvest season. A great day of celebration was topped with hot, drool worthy sweet Pongal that was relished by the students and staff alike. Student Feedback For the first time we got to know what pongal is all about. We had a lovely experience from drawing Rangoli, to watching the tradition of Pongal, to eating the pongal which was made. Akka’s are the most happening people at LLA. They brought us smiles and made the celebrations colourful today. — Richi Choraria, Batch 17-18
