The Food & Beverage Photography demos at Light & Life Academy are designed to introduce students to a wide range of shots—across lighting setups and food types—while helping them understand what works best for each subject. It’s an in-depth look at how a professional food and beverage shoot is planned and executed.
Students observe how a stylist prepares the food and collaborates with the photographer to build the frame. They also see how lighting transforms the setup—bringing the image to life and making it visually appetising.

During the demos students also get to observe the dynamics between photographer and stylist as they build the frame together. The sessions are highly interactive, with every student getting involved in the process.
“The Food & Beverage Specialisation with Mihir Sir began with splash photography. Learning how to use the right flash speed to freeze splashes—and watching it happen live—was incredibly engaging. After that, we moved on to food demos. It was fascinating to watch Swati, the stylist, work on the finer details in the frame. Mihir Sir demoed various types of food shots in multiple lighting scenarios. What stood out the most was the way Mihir and Swati communicated—simple, clear, and focused—as they worked from the first shot to the final image. We ended with a video production demo, where the whole class was divided into teams—Production, DOP, Art Direction—and collaborated with the faculty to create dynamic food videos.
