Equipment

 To enroll for this class the following equipment is mandatory:

1. A 35mm Digital SLR camera.
2. Lenses: three lenses in the range of: 17-40mm, 50mm, 70-200mm. These specifications are for a full frame camera. For non full-frame camera, lenses of equivalent focal length will be needed such as 10-22mm or 12  24mm 35mm  and 28 135mm ( or 70  200 mm lens)
3. CF Card. At least two 2 GB cards.
4. A laptop (min 512 MB RAM) loaded with Photoshop CS2 or CS3 software and an external hard drive of about 160 GB.
5. A portable flash, polarizing filter, ND graduated filters (2 stop soft & 3 stop hard) compact but sturdy tripod and some basic accessories.
6. A good camera bag made by a reputed company.

Admission Requirement

The Academy follows an open admission policy. Minimum age for a candidate is 20 years. Admission is on a first-come-first-served basis, based on portfolio review, and if deemed necessary a telephonic interview. A minimum of 15 years of formal education in any subject with a degree is required. Exceptions will be made for candidates with work experience or life learning experiences, with a minimum of 12 years of formal education. Certificates and letters with a written statement of experience will have to be provided along with the application.

The applicant must have a sound knowledge of operating a Digital SLR Camera. A basic knowledge of computer usage and general proficiency in English is essential.
To apply for admission, download the application form, from our website and fill in all relevant details and send it with the following:

1. Two recent passport-size photographs in colour.
2. Portfolio of images you have shot (a minimum of 20 images -  8"x10"colour or B&W prints, on any subject or a CD of JPEG images 96 dpi, 10” width for horizontal images and 10” height for vertical images, on any one theme or a selection of images on varied subjects). The portfolio is not for evaluating the applicant’s technical proficiency in photography, but to see how good the 'eye' is for photography.
3. Attested copies of relevant certificates, letters and statements.
4. A non-refundable processing fee of Rs.1,000/- by way of Demand Draft, favouring Light & Life Academy, payable at Ooty.
