Photography is the balance of light and dark. No wonder when Iqbal Mohamed founded Light & Life Academy, it was on the day of the Equinox. It is a home away from home, where teaching and learning blends naturally, where learning starts in the classroom and rigorous practicals complete the picture.
Light & Life Academy is perched on a mountaintop in Ooty, with a spectacular view of the Ketti valley. This calm, peaceful 40,000 sq ft Gurukul, in the lap of Mother Nature, is visited by about three seasons every day. Custom-designed by one of India’s most celebrated architects, Mr Jaisim (recipient of the NDTV Award for Lifetime Achievement in Architecture), every part of Light & Life Academy’s campus is a window to the continuously unfolding drama of nature’s sights and sounds. When you step out of the campus, the locals are supportive, encouraging and welcoming of cameras and curiosity. It is truly the most conducive environment to create a picture.
