EXPLORING LIGHT

This is an intermediate level workshop for the serious hobbyist, who has been shooting regularly for about a year or more with a Digital SLR camera. You should already have a certain level of understanding of ‘Light’ and have the desire to get a more in-depth knowledge of its possibilities. You must be thorough with the handling of the camera and have relevant computer knowledge. (The tight time schedule of the workshop does not permit any input on digital aspects of photography).

Content

• ‘Seeing’ Light
• Exploring the qualities of light like direction of light, colour of light, contrast, etc.
• A study of light at different times of the day and different locations - directsunlight, dawn/dusk light, candle light, sodium vapour lamp light, etc.
• Different lighting situations and their moods
• Getting the best out of a lighting situation
• Using your on camera flash creatively, in the indoor & outdoors.

Teaching Methodology

The workshop schedule includes slide shows, demonstrations, photography sessions as well as critique sessions of your work. Every day, you will be photographing, besides going on field trips to places nearby. The photographic subjects will include people/ portraits, nature and cityscapes.

What to bring

A 35mm Digital SLR camera and one or two lenses. A portable flash compatible with your camera. A compact tripod . A laptop. Cold weather clothing.
If you do not have a 35 mm Digital SLR camera & laptop bring your 35 mm SLR camera and about 5 to 10 rolls of colour negative film.

Course fees

Rs.  12,000/- (Early bird offer: Rs. 11,000/- for those registering for the course with the fees before 1st March 2008).

Accommodation and food

Rs. 5,000/-. Double room, twin sharing basis, food and local transport (Ooty-Academy-Ooty) for the duration of the course.

What to bring

A 35mm Digital SLR Camera and one or two lenses. A compact tripod. Your Laptop (will be very useful) Cold weather clothing.
If you do not have a 35 mm Digital SLR camera & laptop bring your 35 mm SLR camera and about 5 to 10 rolls of colour negative film.
